ON-ICE DEVELOPMENT
At STAR Hockey Academy, we believe greatness is built — one habit, one rep, one day at a time. Our philosophy centers on developing the mindset, discipline, and work ethic that set elite athletes apart.
Our team of dedicated professionals guides each player through a process of intentional, skill development, creating daily habits that drive lasting success. With individualized development plans, athletes are empowered to take ownership of their growth, maximizing every opportunity to improve.
At STAR, we don’t just train players — we build leaders. Every session, every drill, and every detail is designed to help athletes reach their full potential and shine at the next level.

Team Sessions
Team sessions are designed to reinforce our team systems — from breakouts and forechecks to special teams and situational play — ensuring that every player understands how to execute within our identity.
We focus on developing game intelligence, communication, and cohesion, so athletes not only know their role but thrive within it. Through high-tempo, system-focused drills, players learn to make quick decisions, read the ice effectively, and play with confidence in every zone.

Skill Development
Each team at STAR works weekly focusing on skill development with Karl Linden founder of Konquer Hockey. Karl Linden's approach breaks skills down into their technical components — from skating mechanics to shooting habits — using each practice as a series of building blocks. Once the foundation is established, he integrates those refined skills into game-like situations and movement patterns.
OFF-ICE DEVELOPMENT
Off-ice development is a crucial part of becoming a complete hockey player. Building strength, balance, mobility, and conditioning away from the rink directly enhances on-ice performance.
STAR focuses on improving players’ athletic foundation through strength training, speed and agility work, core stability, and flexibility. Off-ice sessions also emphasize coordination, body control, and recovery habits that reduce injuries and improve longevity. Just as importantly, we work on mindset, discipline, and consistency—traits that separate good players from great ones. The goal is to create well-rounded athletes who can translate their physical and mental preparation into success every time they step on the ice.

DURING SEASON
During the season, off-ice development is about maintaining strength, mobility, and overall athletic balance without adding excessive fatigue. The focus shifts from heavy lifting to strength maintenance, movement quality, and recovery. Players work on mobility, core stability, and functional exercises that support skating mechanics and prevent injuries. Short, efficient workouts emphasize power, speed, and stability while managing the physical demands of practices and games. Just as importantly, recovery, nutrition, and mental preparation become priorities to keep players performing at their peak throughout the long season.

Mental Performance
Off-ice training isn’t just about building the body—it’s also about shaping the mindset of our STAR athletes. Mental performance and physical preparation go hand in hand. Through structured off-ice sessions, players develop focus, confidence, and resilience under pressure. Every workout becomes an opportunity to train discipline, accountability, and a winning attitude. By challenging themselves physically, players learn how to push through adversity, stay composed, and maintain consistency—key traits of elite performers. Off-ice training builds not only strength and speed, but also the mental toughness and self-belief needed to perform at a high level when it matters most.

Off-Season
The off-season is the best time for players to make real gains in strength, power, and athleticism. With fewer games and practices, the focus shifts to building a stronger, faster, and more resilient athlete. Training emphasizes strength development, speed, explosiveness, mobility, and conditioning, all tailored to the player’s position and age. It’s also a time to correct movement patterns, address weaknesses, and build a solid physical foundation for the upcoming season. Off-ice sessions combine weight training, sprint work, agility drills, and recovery strategies to maximize progress. The goal is to enter the new season stronger, quicker, and more confident on the ice.

Health and Wellness
At STAR Academy, we believe true excellence on the ice begins with a strong foundation in health and wellness. Our hockey program emphasizes not only athletic skill and teamwork but also the importance of balanced nutrition, quality sleep, and mental resilience. Through guided training, fitness education, and wellness initiatives, student-athletes learn how to care for their bodies and minds both on and off the rink. From mindful recovery routines to fueling strategies that enhance performance, STAR Academy equips every player with the tools to thrive in the game — and in life — with strength, focus, and confidence.
GOALIE DEVELOPMENT
At STAR Goalie Development, we believe every goaltender has a unique style — and our mission is to bring out the best in each one. Through a highly individualized approach, our coaches focus on building confidence, refining technical skills, and enhancing performance in every situation.
Each team is supported by a dedicated goalie coach, Eric Williams, who creates a strong mentorship dynamic that drives growth both on and off the ice. Our coaches provide detailed feedback through live game observation, practice sessions, and in-depth video analysis — ensuring every goalie understands their game inside and out.
By mastering position-specific movements and developing game-ready habits, STAR goalies gain the tools, mindset, and consistency needed to perform at the highest level.

The STAR Advantage
At STAR, we go beyond traditional goalie instruction. Our development model connects technical mastery with game intelligence, helping each athlete understand not just how to make the save — but why.
Each session emphasizes customized drills that sharpen movement efficiency, puck tracking, rebound control, and edge work.
Our goal is to produce goaltenders who are not only technically refined but also calm, composed, and prepared to perform under pressure at the next level.

Goalie Specific Coaching
STAR goalies work weekly with WHL Wenatchee Wild's goalie coach, Eric Williams. With a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the goaltending position, Eric brings exceptional knowledge, technical insight, and passion to each session. His approach combines modern goaltending techniques with a clear focus on individual development, helping athletes refine their mechanics, movement, and game awareness.
